Draw - Round 3 Strokeplay Championship. King’s. White Tees. Sat 6th Sept.

This Saturday we return to the King’s Course for the final round of the Stroke Play Championship. With both the Net and Gross trophies still up for grabs, tension is high and contenders know they must deliver their best medal score yet.

📖 A Little History

  • The Stroke Play Trophy was first awarded in 1984, after the Club decided to introduce a new four-round medal play format across the King’s and Queen’s courses.

  • With the development of the PGA Centenary Course, the Championship evolved into three medal rounds — one on each of the King’s, Queen’s, and PGA Courses.

  • In 2020, then Club Captain Andrew Lothian donated a Gross Trophy to ensure recognition not just for handicap play, but also for the best pure scoring.

🔎 Title Race – Who’s in Contention?

  • Gross Trophy:

    • Alastair Cantlay holds a commanding 9-shot lead at 151, and will be hard to catch unless conditions swing drastically on the King’s.

    • Tony Moran and Andy Lothian lead the chasing pack, both sitting on 160, hoping for a Cantlay stumble.

  • Net Trophy:

    • Andy Lothian looks strong on 145, three shots clear of Cantlay.

    • Mark Higham and Ken Marshall lurk close behind, meaning a tight King’s round could yet change everything.

Prediction:

  • Gross Champion favorite: Alastair Cantlay – steady play should secure the title.

  • Net Champion favorite: Andy Lothian – already with the lowest round of the tournament (69 Net, R2), he’s the one to beat.

⛳ Final Round Details

  • Course: King’s Course
