The final round of the Eclectic on the Kings course began under a shroud of heavy drizzle and a persistent chill that would have tested the resolve of a polar explorer. Indeed, the conditions were so grim that Mr. Eric Lambert was seen performing a spirited, one-man lobbying campaign in the clubhouse, attempting to convince anyone who would listen that the course was surely unplayable. His efforts at a premature abandonment were, however, ignored; the Kings course drained with its usual stoicism, and all 24 starters launched into the mist exactly on time.

What followed was a day of scoring that defied both the weather and, briefly, the laws of logic.

In a display of sheer firepower, Dr. Jonnie Dickson appeared to have rewritten the record books, turning in a card that boasted a staggering 58 points—a total that effectively "smashed" Bill Sexton’s previous high-water mark of 49. However, as the clubhouse celebrations began, a dark cloud appeared in the form of a Scottish Golf app anomaly. It emerged that the digital system had been generously awarding 8 points for any holes missed, leading to a leaderboard that looked more like a cricket score than a golf result.

Once the digital dust settled and the "inflated" cards were deemed inadmissible, the real hero of the day emerged. The mercurial Mr. Alan Black was crowned the rightful champion, having navigated the rain and the heavy air to post an awesome and entirely legitimate 41 points. It was a gritty, masterful performance that stood up to the scrutiny of both the elements and the auditors. The result brings a particular sense of relief to Young Bill Sexton, whose previous record remains intact (at least in the "non-glitch" category), allowing him to breathe a very long sigh of relief.

Beyond the daily prizes, we must reserve our loudest applause for the conclusion of the Eclectic competition on the King’s course. David Logie has once again left the field in his wake, finishing with an absolutely staggering eclectic score of 56 points. It was a performance that served as a vivid reminder of his prodigious talent; while others were battling the elements, Logie was busy dismantling the course hole by hole over the season. To maintain that level of excellence across the winter is nothing short of remarkable.

With the Kings course now closed until the new season, the Eclectic battleground shifts to the Queen’s and PGA courses. The question on everyone’s lips in the 19th hole is simple: will anyone be able to legitimately surpass Bill Sexton’s 49 points, or will Dr. Jonnie actually find a way to post a real-world 58?
