Summer Matchplays & Midweek Roll-up Transitions
Summer Matchplay Deadlines
The first rounds of the Summer Matchplay tournaments are now in full swing. To ensure the season stays on schedule, please note the following hard deadlines for completing your ties:
Singles Matchplay: First round must be played by April 30th.
Foursomes Matchplay: First round must be played by May 3rd.
Important: In the event a tie is not completed by these dates, the outcome will be decided by a coin toss. There will be no extensions, so please contact your opponents and schedule your matches as soon as possible.
Midweek Roll-up Administrator Transition
After several years of fantastic service, Alistair Shand is stepping down as our Midweek Roll-up Administrator. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Alistair for the immense hard work and dedication he has put into managing these draws; his efforts have been central to the success of our midweek social golf.
From May 1st, I will be taking over the Administrator role, with the valued assistance of Bill Sexton. Please note that we will be using a dedicated new email address for all roll-up communications moving forward: rollup@dunwhinny.com.
Midweek Roll-up Protocols
1. Participation & The Draw
Availability: An email is sent every Friday detailing the following week's bookings. Please reply to rollup@dunwhinny.com by noon on Sunday to be included.
Randomization: To protect the social nature of the roll-up, requests for specific partners or times are discouraged. Requests for early or late starts will be accommodated by allocating the first or last available slots.
Schedule: The random draw is conducted on Sunday afternoon and the schedule is issued shortly thereafter.
2. Cancellations & Late Entries
Late Additions: Members deciding to play after the draw is issued will be added to the latest threeball groups, capacity permitting.
Withdrawals: For prior-day cancellations, please email the Administrator. For "on-the-day" withdrawals, please email your playing partners and CC rollup@dunwhinny.com.
3. On the Tee
Please arrive at the tee 10 minutes prior to your start time.
Fourballs: Partners are determined by throwing balls. Format is Better Ball Matchplay (90% handicap allowance from the lowest marker).
Threeballs: The format is "On The Perch" (100% handicap allowance from the lowest marker).
4. Pace of Play – "Ready Golf"
We place a strong emphasis on maintaining a brisk pace. Our social rounds should never exceed 3h 30m (Queens), 3h 45m (Kings), or 4h (PGA).
Pick up your ball if you are out of a hole.
Keep ball searches in the rough to a minimum.
General Play: Submitting a General Play score should only be considered within a threeball to avoid delaying fourball matchplay.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our midweek golf organized and enjoyable for all.
