Secretaries Salvers Result and Report.

The Secretaries Salvers mixed foursomes competition took place on the Queens Course on Sunday 7 September.

8 teams took part and were fully equipped with umbrellas and full waterproofs as the forecast was for very heavy rain to fall for most of the round.

The early pace was set by ‘Thai’ Brown and David Mitchell who finished with a competitive 35 points.

Former winners Fran Stirk and Jonathon Fletcher came in with 33 points, followed by Ann and Ken Marshall with 32 (although admittedly they left some putts out on the course).

Anne Crawford and Iain Aitchison posted 30 points, as did Anne and Ian Ferrier. Helen and David McLeod secured seventh place, pipping Jude and Kenny MacDonald.

While the leaderboard was tight for a short time, the defending champions, Terri Croft and Alan Tarney blew everyone away with an amazing 40 points. According to their playing partners they could’ve scored closer to 50 but for a few missed putts!

While the rain came around halfway and was fairly steady all the way in it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm (much!).

Prizes, kindly donated by Iain Aitchison were awarded for nearest the pin (gents) on 2 - David Mitchell, longest drive on 3 (ladies) - Terri Croft, nearest the pin on 13 (ladies) - Anne Ferrier, and longest drive on 16 (gents) - Ken Marshall.

Many congratulations to the worthy winners (again!) and indeed to all of the other competitors. As usual the competition was played in great spirit and drinks and a meal were enjoyed in the Dormy as everyone dried off.
