Captain/Pro Challenge 2025

Round 4 - July 6th

With three strong wins already under our belts, AJ and I went into the fourth round of the Captain-Pro Challenge full of confidence. A win would’ve put us in an unassailable position at 4–0, with just three matches remaining. The scene was set for a potentially decisive day.

As many of our members were enjoying a Texas Scramble off the blue tees over on the PGA, our challenge this month took place on the Kings Course.

Taking us on were Ryan Longmuir and David Frame, a formidable pairing who wasted no time showing their intent. AJ and I managed to go ahead twice early on, but we were pegged back by the 6th, and two more quick wins from the challengers saw them go 2 up.

That 2-hole lead remained through the turn, and when Ryan rolled in a net birdie at the 10th, the pressure began to mount. Momentum was clearly with the challengers, and things were starting to look ominous.

We dug in and managed to claw back two of the next three holes — though crucially, we also dropped one. That left us dormie 3 down, and when both challengers hit excellent approaches into the green while AJ and I missed, the writing was on the wall.

After both of us gave chip-ins a go for slim hopes of birdie, it was time to shake hands and acknowledge a thoroughly deserved victory. Ryan and David brought their A-game and produced a net betterball score of 6-under over the remaining 15 completed holes. They even had looks at birdie on 16 before it wrapped up.

A tough result for AJ and me — but full credit to Ryan and David for a brilliant performance.

Next Up:
We’re back on the Queen’s Course for the fifth match of the series, where AJ and I will take on Alistair Shand and Douglas Hamilton.
📍 Sunday 10th August – 8am – Queen’s Course

With the series now sitting at 3–1 and just three matches left to play, there’s still all to play for.
