Golfers across the club are preparing for one of the most popular fixtures of the year – the Roy Nicolson Salver, to be played over the Queens Course from the Yellow Tees.

Adding a special family touch, Mark Nicolson, Roy’s son, will be at the first tee to welcome competitors, accompanied by a 12-year-old Macallan and a bottle of Johnnie Walker Gold Label, to quell any nerves.

In addition to the coveted Salver itself, this year’s event offers some extra incentives:

• A Limited Edition “A Night on Earth in Jerez” Macallan has been generously donated by Mark as an additional prize.

• On the 13th hole, the nearest-the-pin challenge carries a reward of a litre of Roy’s favourite blend, The Famous Grouse.

There are still plenty of spaces available for entry. Players can sign up via the Club App up until 18:00 on Thursday, or by contacting Iain or Tariq directly.

Members are reminded that any special tee-time requests should be submitted as soon as possible to allow the draw to be finalised.

With great prizes, and the spirit of Roy Nicolson at its heart, this promises to be another memorable day for Dun Whinny.
