Dun Whinny - 2026 Fixtures
Dear Members,
Happy New Year to you all. I hope you enjoyed a lovely festive period.
Some of you may be aware that I have been experiencing issues with sending emails. For that reason, this message has been posted on the website.
My apologies to those of you who may be receiving this for the umpteenth time. Unfortunately, some members have not been receiving emails, and I felt it important to ensure everyone received the information below.
I am pleased to attach the fixtures for the 2026 season which can be accessed by clicking here - 2026 Fixtures
As you review the schedule, please note that there are two types of changes within the fixture list:
Proposed changes that are subject to a vote at the AGM
Required changes that have been imposed due to the Senior Open Championship being held on the Kings Course in July
A summary is set out below for clarity.
1. Proposed change (subject to AGM vote)
This relates to the April Monthly Medal.
On 30 April 2026, our great club celebrates its 90th anniversary. It is proposed that the April Monthly Medal be replaced with a special DW90 celebration event on Saturday 25 April. I hope to share more details with you shortly, so please watch this space.
2. Changes required for 2026 (not subject to vote)
A small number of adjustments have been necessary due to the Senior Open Championship taking place on the Kings Course in July. These changes are already reflected in the attached fixture list.
You will see that we have three events on the PGA Course and two on the Queens Course during July. It has been necessary to move the Jack Adams to a Saturday, swapping with the Monthly Medal, to allow the Jack Adams Trophy to remain on the Queens Course.
With the Kings Course unavailable, the Blue Tees competition is likely to prove a little more challenging than in previous years, as it will take place on the PGA Course. As this coincides with the professionals competing on the Kings Course, attendance may be lower than usual. This could make it a very open competition and perhaps anyone’s trophy to win.
New fixture
I am also pleased to confirm an exciting addition to the fixture list with the introduction of a new match against Tantallon Golf Club, who play on the highly regarded North Berwick West Links Course. We will host Tantallon at Gleneagles in 2026, with the return fixture taking place at North Berwick in 2027.
This is a welcome addition to the calendar, and I am grateful to everyone involved who has helped bring this together, in particular David Cuthbert, Keith Stirling, AJ and David Blackadder.

Muirfield Salver Club Outing
Our Vice Captain, Mike Cantlay, has secured a fantastic arrangement with the Fairmont in St Andrews. As a result, this year’s Muirfield Salver Club Outing will see us return to the resort. In a change from our previous visit, the event will be played over the more picturesque, and perhaps more enjoyable, Kittocks Course.
