Panmure v Dun Whinny
Our annual match against Panmure took place on 27th July over both the Kings and Queens courses. This is one of our oldest continuing fixtures and it is always a pleasure to host old friends and new acquaintances from such a distinguished club.
The Panmure team captained by Jim Wallace arrived with a strong lineup with 11 of their team in single figures whilst some last minute substitutions had to be made to our team.
After golf and over a few drinks tales emerged of fast starts( we gave them 3 holes) great recoveries, late collapses, eagles and birdies. All this resulted in Panmure winning 2/1 on the Kings and Dun Whinny winning by the same margin on the Queens. So an honourable halved match sent everyone home contented having enjoyed great company, good natured rivalry and all looking forward to the return match next year.
My thanks to all the Dun Whinny team for their contribution to making the day successful and especially to Keven Beattie and Adam Lovelock as late substitutes especially Adam who did it all with borrowed clubs.
